Im glad you asked, I was just thinking about that.
Worst division is right, which probably means 8 or 9 wins will take it. Oakland has played crappy teams, but they probably are the biggest competition at this point. It will be interesting to see what KC does the rest of the way. You would think they would be pretty solid with a better than decent defense, a great running back, a very good young wideout a great tight end and a young qb with potential. If Croyle can be decent, KC could win more games then most think. Denver I think will finish with 10 losses, they realistically should be 0-5 right now.
Jeez, our conference is terrible. We don't play at KC until week 13, so hopefully we are running by then.
Here is the rest of our schedule:
Vs Oakland (lets hump them)
Bye
Vs. Houston (with two weeks to prepare for this game, I don’t see any reason to lose. Schaub could do a little damage, and Andre Johnson should be healthy by then. They should not be able to run on us, and we should be able to put up good points, especially with two weeks to prepare.)
@ Minnesota (I know they have looked half way decent this year, but there is no way whoever they put at QB should be able to get it done. Their offense is so terrible, there is no reason to even consider winning this game by less than 7.
Vs Indy: I can't say I feel confident about this one. We have beaten them the last two years by putting heavy pressure on Peyton and we all know the manning under pressure face. I don’t know if this years team will ever get the kind of qb pressure they had last year. I think that is the only way to beat the Colts offense. Our offense should be rolling by then, so we should have a shot in this one, but I don’t know if our defense can handle them.
@ Jax: Great running game, great defense. I think their offense will have a lot of trouble moving the ball against the Chargers. The Chargers could have trouble scoring themselves. My hope is that around this part of the season, Norv will have this offense dominating everyone. This should be a low scoring hard fought battle and coming on the road a win won't be easy, but definitely doable.
Vs Baltimore (This game isn't as tough as it once looked. Their running game is pretty good, their passing game blows. There are still a lot of question marks because they have so many injured guys. Their defense could be better by then, and their offense could be a tiny bit better with Steve McNair. We should win this one, plus we need to avenge last years loss)
@ Kansas City: Ok, Brodie will have more games under his belt, and LJ will be on his 250th carry. I think the Chargers will be fired up enough for this game to overcome the home energy. They really need to exact revenge on these guys, and I hope they do something like they just did in Denver. This could be tough, but I could be giving them too much credit. Their coach is still Herm Edwards, so the chance of the offense rolling is small.
@ Tenn: This team is pretty solid. They have a decent running game, mixed between three backs, a all around solid D, and a qb that knows how to win. I still think they are too young to beat a team as talented as the Chargers, especially with Norv's offense blowing up the scoreboard, right?
Vs. Detroit: By now, Detroit will be 4 games out and everyone will be calling for Matt Millen's head again. Doesn’t that sound about right. The offense looked pitiful last night, but you never know with our pass D. They could light it up. This could be similar to the Cincy game last year. Since it is at home, I will worry less, and think we will fire back and forth until the fourth when we buckle down for the win.
Vs. Denver: Who knows what this team looks like by now. Do they have more than 4 wins...I don’t know.
@ Oakland: Hopefully we have a 3 game lead in the division and we are probably already out of it for a bye, so we just sit our starters and rest up for round 1 at home.
